Impact
~ Agriculture
Over 500 hectares of degraded farmlands regenerated: As part of our degraded farmlands regeneration initiative, over 500 hectares of land have been restored across Pobe, Benin. Through our organic fertilizer and farmer training programs, we are significantly enhancing soil biodiversity, enriching soil health, and achieving up to 57% soil carbon sequestration.
Increased, healthier crop yields: We distributed over 90 tons of pest-control granulated organic fertilizer to more than 1,000 women and indigenous small-scale farmers in Benin. This initiative led to an average 40% increase in yields across cereals, vegetables, fruits, and oil palm crops.
Target for the next five years: We aim to produce and distribute over 60,000 tons of granulated organic fertilizer across Benin and West Africa, reaching 2 million women and indigenous small-scale farmers and regenerating over 500,000 hectares of degraded farmland. Our training programs on sustainable farming practices will strengthen this impact, helping communities restore soil health and improve resilience.
~ Environment
Tons of CO₂ avoided and carbon captured: BIO PLANET TMC Ltd has contributed to a significant reduction of CO₂ emissions by processing over 500 tons of biodegradable waste. According to standardized estimates, recycling each kilogram of waste avoids more than 700 g of CO₂. Based on this, our activities have prevented the emission of over 300 tons of CO₂ across Pobe, Benin. In addition, our organic fertilizer enriches soil carbon content, naturally capturing and storing CO₂ in regenerated farmlands. Based on conservative estimates of 0.5 to 1.0 tons of carbon per hectare per year, this represents an additional 1.8 to 3.7 tons of CO₂ captured per hectare annually, transforming degraded soils into active carbon sinks that contribute to long-term climate resilience.
Clean air and healthy communities: Over 90,000 residents of Pobe, Benin, have benefited from a cleaner and healthier environment. Through our recycling and waste management initiatives, BIO PLANET TMC has reduced the city’s carbon footprint, improved air quality, and strengthened ecological sustainability, directly enhancing the quality of life for local communities.
Target for the next five years: We aim to recycle over 100,000 tons of biodegradable waste across Benin to produce pest-control organic fertilizer, reduce carbon emissions by up to 70,000 tons, and capture thousands of additional tons of CO₂ in the soil. This will ensure clean air for over 5 million residents, while restoring soil fertility and ecosystem balance.
~ Green job opportunities
To date, we have created over 70 green jobs, including 6 direct jobs and more than 68 part-time and seasonal positions. Among these employees, 75% are women, underlining our strong commitment to women’s inclusion and empowerment. Five years from now, we envision creating over 2,100 green job opportunities for youth, women, refugees, and people with disabilities across Benin and West Africa, driving inclusive growth and environmental resilience through sustainable employment.
~ Sustainable farming training
We organized on-farm training sessions for over 150 women farmers in the Pobe region of Benin, focusing on environmentally friendly agricultural practices and agricultural sustainability to restore degraded farmlands. The training aimed to raise awareness among participants about the importance of preserving the environment while improving agricultural productivity. Key topics included organic farming, sustainable land management for soil regeneration, water resource management, and the role of biodiversity in agricultural production.
Target for the next five years: Equip over 5,000 women farmers with strategic tools and knowledge in sustainable farming practices to accelerate ecosystem restoration and strengthen climate resilience across Benin.
~ Social inclusion
Over 500 women have benefited from our social inclusion initiatives. BIO PLANET TMC Ltd has made a significant impact by actively involving more than 500 women in its activities in Pobe, Benin, strengthening their economic independence and social participation. Through these initiatives, the women involved have been able to enroll more than 300 children in school, improving access to education and family well-being.
In addition, our social enterprise promotes inclusion for refugees and people with disabilities, ensuring that no one is left behind in the transition toward a green and circular economy. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce where women, youth, refugees, and people with disabilities can thrive, contribute, and transform their communities across West Africa.
~ Economic development
The impact of our company on the local economy of Pobe, Benin, is significant, with an estimated contribution of about 1% of the regional economy. This contribution results from multiple factors, including improved agricultural productivity, increased income for local farmers, and the creation of green jobs that stimulate rural development.
By 2030, we envision scaling our operations across Benin and West Africa, aiming for an increase of up to 5% in regional economic contribution. Through sustainable innovation, local value creation, and inclusive employment, BIO PLANET TMC Ltd is committed to driving economic resilience and shared prosperity in the communities we serve.
~ Food security & public health
Healthy food products: Over 3,000 end consumers have directly benefited from healthy, high-quality organic agricultural products in Benin. This achievement stems from our commitment to providing pest-control granulated organic fertilizer, enabling farmers to grow safe, chemical-free food. As a result, the products harvested and distributed in our regions are now more environmentally friendly, nutrient-rich, and healthier for consumers.
Fight against malaria and cholera: Through our waste recycling and sanitation activities, we have eliminated breeding grounds for mosquito larvae, the main vectors of malaria. Likewise, the areas where flies proliferate and transmit cholera have been reduced by 12%, helping to save the lives of over 5,000 children across Pobe, Benin.
Hunger eradication and future goals: By promoting sustainable agriculture, organic food production, and waste-free environments, BIO PLANET TMC Ltd actively contributes to food security and hunger reduction in Benin. By 2030, we aim to help millions of children across West Africa escape malnutrition, by strengthening local food systems, improving access to nutritious foods, and expanding our network of empowered smallholder farmers. We expect to achieve an increase of up to 15% in the number of communities with access to safe food and clean environments, reinforcing both public health and regional resilience.
