🌱 Agriculture & Environment: We’ve restored over 100 hectares of farmlands across Pobè, Benin, increasing crop yields by 35% with pest control organic fertilizer, and soil carbon sequestration capacity up to 57%. Our recycling efforts prevented 70 tons of CO₂ emissions, ensuring clean air for over 50,000 residents. By 2030, we aim to recycle over 100,000 tons of biodegradable waste to produce and deliver 60,000+ tons of pest control granulated organic fertilizer across West Africa, and create 2,100 green jobs—empowering over 1 million women and indigenous farmers with increase in yields up to 45%, and cutting down CO₂ by 70,000 tons.

At BIO PLANET TMC Ltd, we care about farmlands degradation because it affects crop yields’, farmers’ income; leading to food insecurity, unemployment, hunger and poverty. According to UNCCD data, over 2 billion hectares of land are degraded globally, affecting negatively over 3.2 billion people worldwide. In West Africa, over 150 million hectares of land are degraded, nearly 58% as farmlands, with over 100 million farmers in search of quality organic fertilizer to restore their degraded farmlands.
Agriculture is vital to livelihoods in Benin Republic and West Africa. It is the main source of employment for the 290 million people who live in the region, employing 60 percent of the workforce, and accounts for 35 percent of the region’s gross domestic product (GDP). It remains the primary source of income for 80% of the 12 million inhabitants of Benin Republic (FAO), and has been affected by farmlands degradation in recent years. Over 2 million hectares of land in Benin Republic are classified as degraded (UNDP-Benin). The town of Pobè is among the critical cases with over 40,000 hectares of degraded farmlands.
We offer low-income women and indigenous small-scale farmers across Pobè, Benin Republic, West Africa, high-quality and pest control granulated organic fertilizer for farmlands restoration and significant increase in crop yields (cereals, vegetables and fruits, oil palms…), up to 45%, to guarantee food security in rural communities.
The hazards of climate change have caused soil erosion due to the presence of intermittent and torrential rains, and rising temperatures, which strips the land of the nutrients that make it fertile in Benin Republic, and West Africa. In research of solutions, farmers rely on chemical fertilizers, which worsen the situation and lead to soil degradation, with over 57% of decline in crop yields over the past 10 years, while the expenses incurred for production are close to income.
Although the hazards of climate change are a global problem, the case of Pobè in Benin Republic is critical and needs urgent attention. Pobè with over 130,000 residents, is a town that produces an enormous amount of waste, with 0.4kg per individual per day, or 70+ tons per day for the whole Pobè, 80% as agricultural waste. To get rid of it, people are forced to burn it or dump it in nature, the main source of the emission of over 50 tons of CO2 every day, which exacerbates the hazards of climate change.
